Gary Olson of The Ladybug Transistor in Saveur

It’s no secret that Gary Olson’s Marlborough Farms is at the heart of The Ladybug Transistor. Saveur Magazine recently visited his house in Brooklyn to find out what takes place in the kitchen. Read about it online, and order Clutching Stems in the Merge store now!

A native Brooklynite and lead singer of the band The Ladybug Transistor, Gary Olson has lived in the same big old Victorian house in Ditmas Park for more than 10 years now, where he operates the recording studio Marlborough Farms (which is also the nickname of the house) and plays host to a rotating cast of musicians and artists. If you listen carefully to Ladybug’s most current album, Clutching Stems, you can hear a few pots and pans rattling around as the kitchen is just above the studio. Looking out into a sunny backyard and an abundant vegetable garden, the kitchen’s most unique feature is a beast of an old Chambers stove, upon which Gary loves to cook his morning eggs.
