“My Love is Real,” the first single from Divine Fits debut A Thing Called Divine Fits, was remixed by Kingdom, and shared by the band as a Valentine’s Day treat.
Listen to “My Love is Real” (Kingdom Remix) at SoundCloud
In their premiere of the remix, Consequence of Sound wrote:
Kingdom, whose previously reworked Sleigh Bells, Lil Wayne, Ciara, and more, flips the track on its head. With thick, echoey drums keeping time, gone is the cheery rumble of the original’s vintage synth line, replaced by mechanical-sounding keys more reminiscent of Harold Faltermeyer than Modern English. Still, even with a fresh coat of German synth-pop slathered on, the song’s quirky sense of romanticism still shines through.

Top-notch indie rock pedigree or not, A Thing Called Divine Fits (named for the opening lyrics to most of Sister Nancy’s repertoire) is a stellar debut by any measure—from irresistible up-tempo hookfests “Would That Not Be Nice” and “Like Ice Cream” to the cool Motorik pulse of “Baby Get Worse” and “The Salton Sea” to the tender acoustic guitar strains of “Civilian Stripes” and the sublime take on Rowland S. Howard’s “Shivers.”

Divine Fits released a remix of “Would That Not Be Nice” by RJD2 today at RCRD LBL.
RCRD LBL describes the remix, “Soulful and melodic with Daniel’s reedy vocals front-and-center, this flip shows how strong the group’s original songwriting can be as a bed for other sonic excursions.”

Divine Fits has confirmed its first full scale U.S. tour in support of its recently released and widely acclaimed debut album, A Thing Called Divine Fits. Of the album, NPR’s Stephen Thompson declares, “Comparisons are fair and inevitable, but the album deserves that highest of compliments: For all its familiar components, it sounds like Divine Fits.”
The tour will kick off October 16 in Pawtucket, RI and will wind up with a November 4 show at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theater. The band recently made its live debut to uniformly positive reviews. Of the band’s debut performance, Austinist raved, “The rapturous applause throughout the entirety of the band’s excellent set let them know they were doing more than a few things right. Put simply, things couldn’t have gone better.” Newly confirmed dates include this year’s Moogfest and the end of their Los Angeles residency, tonight at The Echo.
The band will make their late-night television debut this Friday, September 7 on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
The Los Angeles Times called the penultimate show of the residency a “powerful, at times hypnotic gig at the Masonic Temple” that proved “three men with recognizable gifts and a keen sense of song can build mesmerizing musical structures.”
