SPOON plays the 9:30 Club in DC tonight! For those of you not lucky enough to make it, the kind folks at NPR have scheduled a LIVE BROADCAST tonight! An interview with the band will air at 7:30, and the show goes live at 8pm! Tune in tonight for the entire concert!
If you’d rather park yourself in front of the TV tonight, Reaper will feature songs from two Merge artists: Spoon’s “The Underdog” and Imperial Teen‘s “Shim Sham”!
Another momentous TV event: SPOON on SNL re-airs THIS Saturday, October 27!

Imperial Teen are in the midwest this weekend, and are stopping by some of our favorite radio stations!
KEXP will be setting up camp in Chicago this weekend, and Imperial Teen are dropping by for an instudio at 11am CST this Thursday, October 4th. Tune in live, and if you are in Chicago go see them at The Abbey later that night!
Next, Imperial Teen will visit KCMP in lovely St. Paul, MN. That’s near Dinkytown, right? They’ll hang out and play a few songs live on air beginning at 4pm CST. Listen live, and check them out at 7th Street Entry that night!

NPR has chosen “Do It Better” from Imperial Teen’s forthcoming new release The Hair the TV the Baby & the Band as their song of the day today! Check it out here. Also, if you missed their KUT session recorded during SXSW, you can find it here.
The Hair the TV the Baby & the Band will be in stores in less than a month! Imperial Teen have put another track, “Shim Sham”, on their myspace page. Enjoy this little sneak peak at the new record and be sure to check out the band on tour this fall!
Roddy Bottum scores with Ted Danson

If you are looking for something amusing to watch on the boob tube this evening, tune into ABC at 9:30pm for the series premiere of Help Me Help You. Why are we pimping a Ted Danson vehicle on the Merge blog? Well, it just so happens that Mr. Roddy Bottum of Imperial Teen composed the score for the show, and along with Anna Waronker (That Dog/solo) serves as music supervisor for the series. I can’t speak to the content of the show, but Roddy says that it’s very smart and funny. At the very least the music should be cool.
