Telekinesis performed stripped-down shows recently for NPR Music on tour and for Converse at XX Merge, and video for both are now available for your viewing pleasure.
Today on Converse.com, watch Telekinesis’ Michael Benjamin Lerner and Nada Surf’s Matthew Caws playing “Tokyo” from Telekinesis!
The Telekinesis video is the third in a series showcasing six Merge bands performing stripped-down sets somewhat spontaneously in various locations during the festival. Visit Converse.com to watch all of the videos in this series.
Also, watch and listen Telekinesis’ Tiny Desk performance now at NPR.org/music. Michael and Chris kicked the set off with “Plankton,” from the “Coast of Carolina” tour EP (now available in the Merge store), NPR’s Stephen Thompson describes the set, “Without the insistent crunch of electric guitars or drums — Lerner plays the latter himself when not performing acoustic sets at the desk of All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen — the band’s performance radiates sweetly awkward warmth.”
Order Telekinesis! on CD and digital download in the Merge store.

As you might have heard, Arcade Fire will be appearing on Austin City Limits this weekend – Saturday, November 10th. The session was taped earlier this year during the ACL Festival, and though, due to the vagaries of air travel in these troubled times, I was unable to attend the taping in person, reports from those who did, including the band themselves, point towards an amazing performance.
As a sneak preview, Pitchfork has posted video of “Keep The Car Running” from the ACL taping. If you have not seen it yet, you can check it out HERE.
Looks auspicious.
You can also check out snippets from the post show interview with Will, Win, Jeremy, Tim and Regine on the ACL website HERE.
Check your local listings for the times that Austin City Limits will be broadcast in your area. You can also find the schedules for PBS programming in your area HERE.
