The Mountain Goats on WXPN World Cafe Wednesday, May 11!

The Mountain Goats visited WXPN’s World Cafe studios on their recent tour to perform songs from March’s All Eternals Deck. The session will air today on NPR’s World Cafe. Visit NPR.org for local airtimes, or you can listen live on WXPN’s live stream at 2PM EST.

Ross Grady has bands play sometimes on his Sunday afternoon show on WXDU. We’d never done it before but wanted to, so Jim and I went in and Ross broke all kinds of crazy rules for us! Acoustic only! Telekinesis released their sophomore album 12 Desperate Straight Lines on Tuesday, and the band will be celebrating release week with a stop at KEXP Seattle today, February 16! Listen to the band play live at 12pm Pacific / 3pm Eastern on 90.3 FM in the Seattle area, or online at KEXP.org!

NPR Music’s Robin Hilton describes Telekinesis’ new edgier sound, “The group’s only permanent member, Michael Benjamin Lerner, writes songs that exude loneliness, heartache and the dizzying grief of dysfunctional relationships. Superchunk played a live set on KEXP while in Seattle for the Teenage Fanclub / Telekinesis mega-show at the Showbox on Thursday! Listen to the archive at KEXP.org.

North Carolina’s Superchunk was high on the list when it came to great indie-rock of the ‘90s (a time when that term actually made sense) and they haven’t lost a step with their 2010 LP of catchy, buzzing, riff-heavy pop “Majesty Shredding.” They play tracks from the new record and some classic singles live at KEXP. – W.
