WFMU 24-Hour “Emergency Fund Drive!”

WFMUWorld-renowned Jersey City freeform radio station, WFMU is hosting a 24-hour emergency fund drive beginning at 7PM tonight. Due to a major short fall from their Spring fund drive and losing the lease on their transmitter, WFMU is setting aside their pride and asking for help to keep their “heart pumping and turntables spinning until next Spring.” WFMU is 100% listener-supported and receives no outside funding.

WFMU is also the home of Tom Scharpling’s “The Best Show on WFMU” every Tuesday night from 8-11 PM. This show has given us a catalog of hilarious comedy from the weekly collaboration of Scharpling with Superchunk’s Jon Wurster. Listen to clips from classic “Best Show” moments at ScharplingandWurster.com.

Please visit WFMU’s marathon page for more information and to pledge whatever you can to help keep this unique radio station on the airwaves!

Best Show Gems

Every Tuesday night from 8-11 pm on WFMU, The Best Show on WFMU with host Tom Scharpling presents three hours of “mirth, music and mayhem.”  Superchunk’s Jon Wurster, Paul F. Tompkins, John Hodgman, Patton Oswalt and SCORE curator Zach Galifianakis are frequent contributors to the show.

The Onion AV Club has just alerted us to a new bi-weekly podcast, Best Show Gems, featuring selections from the best of past Best Shows. Download full weekly podcasts of The Best Show on WFMU or check out the bi-weekly, Best Show Gems at iTunes. SCORE subscribers have more Scharpling & Wurster to look forward to as they will receive a CD of exclusive material later this year as part of the SCORE subscription box set.

Rambocky: The Movie

Those of you who listen to The Best Show on WFMU will hardly need an explanation for the animated interpretation of Rambocky. If you do not listen to The Best Show and do not own any Scharpling & Wurster cds, go here or here and you will, no doubt, soon join The Friends of Tom!

Jon Wurster Random Rules

One of our favorite comedians and friends, Jon Wurster, shuffled the contents of his ipod for The Onion’s Random Rules feature. Mac & M. Ward have participated in the past.

And if you missed Ronald Thomas Clontle on EMusic, check it out here!
