Or Thousands Of Prizes

Merge Records will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2014, and we are planning a year-long celebration beginning with Or Thousands of Prizes, a snapshot of Merge at 25 that will unfold over the course of the year. A subscription-based, bonus-filled box set celebrating Merge’s twenty-fifth anniversary, Or Thousands of Prizes will include twelve 7-inches (split singles, mostly) on colored vinyl featuring exclusive, newly recorded tracks from 25 Merge artists including Superchunk, Mikal Cronin, Mount Moriah, The Mountain Goats, The Clientele, Destroyer, King Khan & the Shrines, Lambchop, and more.

Merge 25k Road Race

The first event of our 25th anniversary year was the Merge 25K—a 25 km (15.5 miles) road race on Saturday, March 22, 2014. We had a great time and hosted a slam-bang finish line party with fun for the whole family! The first point-to-point race of its kind, participants ran from Chapel Hill, NC, where Merge had its beginnings, and raced to the finish in our current home of downtown Durham. Thanks to the over 800 registrants and our generous sponsors, we were able to raise significant donations for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina and Habitat for Humanity of Durham and Orange County while marking the momentous occasion of 25 years of releasing great music from our home base in North Carolina.
