Bob Mould European tour dates announced

Bob Mould has announced European tour dates kicking off in Berlin on November 6. The ten dates are in support of his recent album Beauty & Ruin.

Watch Wye Oak's music video for "Glory" on The A.V. Club now!

Wye Oak's Shriek was released yesterday to enthusiastic reviews worldwide, and features on StereogumGrantland, and more.

"Shriek is more of a continuation than a disruption: It’s a product of the catalytic bond between Mr. Stack, on synthesizers and drum programming, and Ms. Wasner, on electric bass." —NY Times

"Despite its electronic emphasis, Shriek bypasses conventional synthpop for more introspective, individual territory." —Wondering Sound

"There's no question Wasner could make these songs work as big guitar anthems, but as skeletal, textured electronic tunes they really let the nuance of both her songwriting and her voice shine through." —Under The Radar

The A.V. Club premiered Wye Oak's new video for "Glory" today, check it out!

Wye Oak's Shriek is out today!

Wye Oak's fourth LP Shriek is available now on CD, LP and with t-shirt bundle in the Merge store, iTunes, Amazon, Rdio, Spotify, or at your favorite local independant record store.

“[Shriek] is by turns dream, expansive and, ultimately, triumphant.” —Rolling Stone

"Shriek is synthpop haze with serious percussive backbone, the thunderous clatter of Stack’s drumming often stepping up to make the noise that Wasner’s guitar isn’t." —The AV Club

“The tautness of Wasner’s writing had little to do with her instrument of choice and everything with the woman behind the strings: This is nervy, charged music, buzzing like a brain in heat.” —Pitchfork

“Brainy, buzzy…high minded grooves that benefit from Wasner’s heavenly vocals.” —SPIN

If you would like to share your training story with us, please email m25k@mergerecords.com.

From April:
Training for the Merge 25K is nearly over. I completed a grueling 12 miles with a little help from friends Elizabeth and Molly on Saturday March 8th. Would you believe me if I told you that I gave birth to my second child nearly 12 weeks ago? Yes, I am out of my mind. Just last week I ran a total of 23 miles under severe sleep-deprivation. I am determined to see this race through to the end.

Five Classic Superchunk albums to be released in Europe on March 17

On March 17, Merge will reissue five classic Superchunk albums on CD and LP in Europe.

Mac says:

When we first started coming to Europe (our first European tour was with Mudhoney in April 1992), we were lucky to have Christof and his fine label City Slang on our side. City Slang released all the records between No Pocky For Kitty and Indoor Living and supported our sometimes successful, sometimes sucky European touring efforts throughout the roaring mid '90s. Those albums have been out of print in Europe for quite a while, and we are excited to say that Merge will be making the following titles available there on CD and LP as of March 17th:

No Pocky for Kitty
On the Mouth
Foolish
Here's Where the Strings Come In
Indoor Living

From Cami:
I'm a little over 10 weeks into training, and I haven't fallen down once! There have been a lot of close calls. Sometimes I've hoped I might fall down and lay there forever, but for the most part, my training has been a success! The weather was great yesterday, and I ran 12.5 miles. I set out to do 14 miles… so I'm a little bummed I had to cut it short, but overall I’m pretty confident I'll be good to go on race day. I plan to do mostly shorter runs between 4-6 miles until the race.
