XX Merge begins with "Merge with Motion"

Merge fan and dancer Sarah Honer was driving in her car listening to Caribou when the idea to celebrate Merge and unite two artistic worlds in one evening was born. On Saturday, July 18, at the Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC, a group of world-renowned dancers will join the Triangle Youth Ballet to present Merge with Motion, a dance performance in a unique rock music setting celebrating Merge Records’ 20th anniversary.   More >

New Spoon single out June 30th!

On Tuesday, June 30th, Spoon will debut its first newly recorded material since 2007's universally acclaimed Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga! We will release the three-song "Got Nuffin" single on CD and digital download beginning June 30, with the 12" vinyl version following in July (exact date TBD).   More >

The Clientele light "Bonfires on the Heath"

On October 6, The Clientele will release their 5th album, Bonfires on the Heath on CD, LP and digital download. The Clientele formed a long time ago in the backwoods of suburban Hampshire, playing together as kids at school, rehearsing in a thatched cottage remote from any kind of music scene, but hypnotized by the magical strangeness of Galaxie 500 and Felt and the psych pop of Love and the Zombies. Bonfires on the Heath is in a sense a return to the Clientele’s roots; the dreamlike suburban landscapes first encountered in the early singles, their trippy sense of menace stronger now.   More >

Superchunk release "Crossed Wires" on July 7

Superchunk will release a brand new 7", "Crossed Wires" b/w "Blinders (Fast Vers.)" on July 7. The record was produced by Scott Solter (John Vanderslice, The Mountain Goats) at Overdub Lane in Durham, NC, and will be available in a limited edition of 1,000 copies on clear vinyl.   More >

XX Merge Cat’s Cradle Shows Sold Out! Tickets still available for Memorial Hall!

Merge Records is celebrating our 20th anniversary in the summer heat of North Carolina with a 5-day birthday party called XX Merge which will be held at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro from Wednesday, July 22, through Saturday, July 25, and at Memorial Hall on the UNC campus on Sunday, July 26. Tickets for the Memorial Hall show are available via eTix, Cat’s Cradle, CD Alley (Chapel Hill), Schoolkids (Raleigh), Bull City Records (Durham), and the Memorial Hall box office. Five-day passes and individual tickets for all Cat's Cradle shows are now sold out. We will not be announcing line-ups for the Cat’s Cradle nights, but a (mostly) complete list of bands who will be performing is available at mergerecords.com/xxmerge.
