Georgia Hubley
Since forming Yo La Tengo with Ira Kaplan in 1984, Georgia Hubley has played an intrinsic role in expanding the scope of independent music. Like the band’s music, her matter-of-fact vocals range from sheer beauty to deadpan humor to frantic noise and ambient experimentation. Similarly, her drumming displays extraordinary range despite its unflashy style. Their most recent studio album for Matador, I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass, was called “the perfect album” by Urb Magazine. With almost 20 full-length albums and countless peripheral releases, Hubley and Yo La Tengo continue to challenge themselves and inspire fans with their famously dynamic live shows, film scores, charitable endeavors, and varied extracurricular pursuits.
