Divine Fits‘ moody and hypnotic performance video for “Would That Not Be Nice” premiered today at Stereogum.com

The video, directed by Brian Butler, uses dramatically lit live performance shots to illustrate the song Stereogum describes as “one of 2012′s greatest, most enduring rock songs.”

Divine Fits recently confirmed its first full scale U.S. tour, which kicks off October 16 in Pawtucket RI and will wind up with a November 4 show at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre. Cold Cave will support from the October 21 show at Webster Hall in New York City onward.

“Would That Not Be Nice” is the second single from the band’s recently released and insanely acclaimed debut album, A Thing Called Divine Fits. The upcoming tour dates follow a series of debut shows in the band members’ hometowns of Austin, Montreal and Columbus, OH that drew unanimous raves, as did a series of one-offs and festival appearances, a Los Angeles residency and a triumphant network TV debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Divine Fits has confirmed its first ever dates in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle and Toronto. The announcement of the newly added shows comes a day after the  July 31 release of Divine Fits’ first single “My Love Is Real,” the 7-inch of which features a non-LP B-side cover of Camper Van Beethoven’s “I Was Born In A Laundromat.”

As previously announced, special golden tickets will be inserted into ten random copies of “My Love Is Real” at select indie retailers in each of the preceding trio of headline dates in the hometowns of Divine Fits’ Britt Daniel (Austin TX on August 1), Dan Boeckner (Montreal QC on August 3) and Sam Brown (Columbus OH on August 6). Participating locations are Waterloo and End of an Ear in Austin, Phonopolis in Montreal, and Used Kids and Magnolia Thunderpussy in Columbus. The band will also be playing August 5 in Chicago, where the golden ticket copies will be randomly distributed among the city’s three Reckless Records locations.

Divine Fits’ as yet untitled debut album will be released later this year by Merge Records in the U.S. The album was produced by Nick Launay.

Spoon will be contributing a song to the forthcoming benefit compilation Luz de Vida: A Compilation to Benefit the Victims of the Tucson Tragedy, which will be released on Fort Lowell Records on October 18. The other musicians on the album either hail from Tucson or have ties to the city and include Calexico, John Vanderslice, Robyn Hitchcock, and Neko Case, among many others.

All proceeds from the sale of Luz de Vida will go to the Tucson Together Fund, the only officially sanctioned fund established to assist victims, families, and witnesses of the January 8 shooting tragedy that occurred there. Read more about this worthwhile effort at musicagainstviolence.org.
