Wye Oak premiere video for "The Tower" & announce new tour dates

Wye Oak premiere video for

Baltimore two-piece Wye Oak has added additional US dates throughout the month of July in support of their new studio album, Shriek, in stores on April 29. Their US Tour kicks off at Coachella and will make stops in over 25 cities across the country.

Today, Stereogum also premiered a video for track “The Tower” off of the upcoming record. Watch the video now.

Shriek marks a sonic shift from Wye Oak’s signature sound, which is usually focused around lead-singer Jenn Wasner’s guitar playing. When Wasner set out to make the album, she ditched the guitar and wrote the whole album on bass while Stack layered synths and drums to support the very personal, emotional works. “The tautness of Wasner’s writing had little to do with her instrument of choice and everything with the woman behind the strings: This is nervy, charged music, buzzing like a brain in heat,” said Pitchfork.

Shriek will be released on CD, digital and 150 gram vinyl with the first 1000 copies pressed on orange vinyl. The album is available for pre-order now at iTunes with an instant download of the first single “The Tower”. Also, an exclusively designed t-shirt will be bundled with the album for those that pre-order the record in the Merge store
