In the summer heat of sunny North Carolina, we celebrated Merge Records' twentieth birthday this year. Thirty-three bands and thousands of fans packed Carrboro's Cats Cradle for four nights, capping off the weekend with a much-deserved sit-down show at UNC's Memorial Hall. Brian Vetter documented the festival, which we called XX Merge.
